DILATED EYE ASSESSMENT

 

A child’s eyes is very different from an adult. 
Firstly, the brain (Visual Cortex) develops during the first 7 years. If a child vision does not develop then his/her vision will be impaired throughout adult life (Lazy Eye).
Secondly, a dilated examination is necessary as per International Guidelines. It is only performed by a medical doctor (Ophthalmologist) who has been trained. The drops are safe and painless. We have a fully trained pediatric pathway and team which ensures that it is least stressful to both child and parents.

Most importantly, the drops allow for two assessments:
(1) Accurate eye examination to exclude any sight-threatening diseases.
(2) An accurate assessment of any spectacle prescription. 
(3) We are the only service with Zeiss Intelligent Automated Technology.
